What's On Tap this Labor Day Weekend

THE HOLIDAY WEEKEND IS ALMOST HERE. This is what we'll have on tap starting tonight. (By the way, it's Hop Angel Night, so ladies get $3 flagship pints until 7p!)

  • Aurumglass, our golden ale made with honey malt and bitter orange peel.
  • Another Way To Rye, our version of a rye IPA made with 3 kinds of hops.
  • Portly Stout, our robust stout made with chocolate malt, black malt, and roasted barley.
  • Scarlet Harlot (New!), an American red ale. It has a strong biscuit flavor and aroma. The hops are used predominantly to balance out the sweetness, but a slight, earthy bitterness can be detected during the finish. It is medium bodied and has a deep red color. ABV: 4.9%
  • What The Fudge?, with cocoa nibs from our friends at Olive & Sinclair, an artisan chocolatier right here in Nashville. Southern Living readers voted them "America's Best Chocolate." (We'll fill growlers with this on Saturday only!)
  • None More Black, our stout with coffee beans from Bongo Java, a coffee roaster in Nashville. (We'll fill growlers with this on Saturday only!)

Excited about the Labor Day Laborless Fest on Monday? We are too. This is what we'll have on tap specifically for the shindig.
  • Aurumglass,
  • Another Way To Rye,
  • Portly Stout,
  • Scarlet Harlot,
  • Scarlet Charlotte (New!), Scarlet Harlot, but fermented with an English Ale yeast.
  • vanilla cream ale (new!), a lighter-bodied ale fermented with both ale and lager yeasts, then cold-conditioned to make for a cleaner flavor. We added split vanilla beans for a mild vanilla flavor to complement the refreshing style.
  • Lumberjack, a maple stout. Smells like mama's makin' pancakes. Mmmmmm.
  • 11th Hour, our vanilla stout that you know and love.
Remember our taproom is open today and tomorrow 4-10p, Saturday 2-10p, and Monday for the Labor Day Laborless Fest noon-10pCan't wait to see your beautiful faces!

Labor Day Laborless Fest Change of Plans

So, we've improved some plans for the Labor Day Laborless Fest, which in case you didn't know is taking place at the taproom Monday (Labor Day) Sept. 2 from noon-10 p.m.

Instead of having you bid cash to charity and the highest gets to pie Mark in the face, we're just going to have a big ass DUNKING BOOTH.

Yes. Dunking booth. So bring cash dollars. Throw some softballs at a target and dunk the Turtle crew.

All proceeds from the dunking booth will go to Davis House Child Advocacy Center, a nonprofit organization based right here in Franklin that helps hundreds of kids who have been physically or sexually abused.

So come out to the taproom next Monday. Bring some cash. Dunk some Turtle peeps. Make a huge difference in someone's life.

See you soon!

Labor Day Laborless Fest: The Lineup

The Dan Harry Trio (1-3 p.m.)

This trio consists of Daniel Harry and friends. Daniel Harry is the singer and guitarist for modern Southern band Copper Into Steel. He demonstrates the epitome of an invigorating and upbeat performance style that always turns first-time listeners into fans.

Creature Comfort (4-5 p.m.)

Creature Comfort got its humble beginnings in the form of Paper Not Plastic, an indie pop band that gained somewhat of a cult following in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. After a line up change and subsequent shift in direction, Paper Not Plastic gave birth to Creature Comfort in late 2011. Upon its inception, Creature Comfort began playing at several house shows and venues throughout Nashville and the surrounding cities. In the summer of 2012, the band began working on their full-length debut, "Fox Tales." The eleven song album was recorded over an eight month span in lead guitarist Nick Rose's personal studio and was mastered by Kyle Manner at Station West in Nashville. On May 18th, 2013, "Fox Tales" was finally released to several eager fans at the Little Shop of Records in Murfreesboro. The album is now available for download on iTunes and Bandcamp.

Josephine and the Wildfront (5:30-6:30 p.m.)

Josephine and the Wildfront is a three-piece alt synth band from the Nashville area, Tennessee. Their inspirations include a wide range of dream pop and other alternative new-gaze rock bands.
Beginning as a solo project consisting of Josephine Moore and an acoustic guitar, many of the songs, that would later be featured on their 2013 “Swallowed By The Ocean” EP, were written many years prior as a collection of folk songs Josephine would perform alone in coffee shops and other small venues.
Krista Glover, a keys player, and Preston Vaughn, a drummer, were members of a local pop-punk-esque band with other members, which would later be called Holy Coast with the addition of Moore as vocalist and rhythm guitar.
Moore was given the opportunity to rerecord her old songs at a much higher production quality in the studio of Rob Webb, who suggested she find a backing band. She then enlisted the aid of her girlfriend, Glover, and friend Vaughn to begin a new project with her, and create a new style of performance and music altogether. Already having established a comfort in playing together during the year they were in Holy Coast (in which two EPs were released), the new band naturally blended together.
Thus, Josephine and the Wildfront was born.

The Bed Monsters (7-9 p.m.)

The Bed Monsters are James Wood on guitar/vocals, Eric Schneeberger on drums/vocals, Trey Caplenor on bass/vocals. The Bed Monsters began about 3 years ago. During that time, they have worked hard to create a new sound experience. The influences of all three members combine to create something they hope is unique.

Labor Day Laborless Fest, Monday Sept. 2

Ladies and gentlemen, it's happening again. Turtle's throwing another party: the Labor Day Laborless Fest!

Bring the whole family to the taproom on Monday September 2 (Labor Day) from noon-10 p.m. We'll be pouring freshly-brewed craft beers, including some unreleased brews. Corn hole tournaments will be going strong all day long. Cool Cafe will be cooking hamburgers, beer brats, and grilled tempeh. We'll also be giving away Turtle Anarchy swag, along with prize packs from Franklin Cigar and Westhaven Golf Club.

We're also gonna do something hilarious, but we need your help. Bring cash. Whoever bids the most cash to donate to local charity Davis House Child Advocacy Center (to combat child abuse) gets to pie Mark, the president, in the face. YES. PIE HIM IN THE FACE. So bring all you want to donate. Let's give back. And point and laugh at Mark. He's thrilled about this, by the way.

We'll also have live music from local bands to guide the fun. They are (in this order) The Dan Harry Trio, Creature Comfort, Josephine and the Wildfront, and The Bed Monsters.

The event is free and open to all ages. Below is an image. Feel free to share. See you then!

Fine Brews & Fine Arts Expo

We know you appreciate the art of craft beer and the perks of getting it local. We've teamed up with the Arts Council of Williamson County to merge your local thinking with your appreciation of fine art.

On Friday August 16 from 5-9 p.m., we'll feature Geometrical Designz by local artist Dana Reynolds at our taproom. She'll have her work on display and for sale.

We'll have some finger foods for you to munch on as you sip your local brew and admire Dana's art.

A little about Dana Reynolds:
Dana started her designs when she was about fifteen in Middletown, New York, where she grew up. She began doodling lines and shapes on the edges of her papers during school in order to remember the speech or lecture. It was a way of association for her memory. These simple pencil sketches that became a source of peace during many difficult times of her life became larger, more complex and colorful reflections of her experiences.

After being blessed with a variety of experiences, she
has been a short order cook and correction officer.  She now lives in Columbia, Tennessee, with her family; she currently devotes the majority of her time to her youngest son and her work with geometric designs, as well as being a full time college student.

She works with various foundations and media to obtain a combination that creates texture and color that complement the pattern.  A piece begins with multiple pencil sketches before it comes alive and begins to dictate to her the appropriate color combination.  This may take as little as a week or as long as months before the work is completed.

The first public display of her work was at the Williamson County Public Library, “Grid Row”, Columbia Arts in the Park, Art Under the Mistletoe 2012.  She was a Featured Artist for Bob Parks Realty during the Downtown Franklin Art Crawl January 2013.

She has been a member of Arts Council of Williamson County since 2012.
