Happy Thanksdrinking!

Happy Thanksdrinking I MEAN Thanksgiving, y'all! We're so thankful for you that we're open special hours and we've brewed some special beers for you and your family to enjoy this weekend.

TAPROOM HOURS
Wednesday (11/27): 4-10p
Thursday (11/28): CLOSED SO WE CAN EAT AND DRINK ALL DAY
Friday (11/29): 4-10p
Saturday (11/30): 2-10p

ON TAP
Wednesday:

  • Jack's 11 Lanterns (new!), stout with pumpkin, chocolate, and vanilla. Fill your growler.

Friday:

  • Set Phasers To Squash (new!), an ale with pumpkin, honey, and spices.
  • We'll also have the firkin (10-liter wooden cask) set up on the bar on Friday, pouring a freshly hopped beer, Another Way To Firk, into your pint glass. This beer is Another Way To Rye dry hopped in the firkin with Simcoe hops. Mmmmmm. BUT, there's a catch! Another Way To Firk must be finished Friday night. We can't have any leftovers. So come slow down and drink up Friday with your family.
Remember, you can always bring in your acoustic guitar or djembe or bongo or harmonica or whatever you can play and jam in the taproom. The stage is always ready for you.

Happy Thanksdrinking!

Book Signing: Nashville Brewing + New Brew Release

Want to know about the history of brewing in Nashville?
Perfect. Cause we know an awesome guy in Brentwood named Scott R. Mertie who started collecting Nashville beer memorabilia when he was in the 1st grade. He collected so much that his collection turned obsession, and he gathered and learned so much that he wrote a book.

The book is called Nashville Brewing. Through this book, self-published in 2006, Mertie is helping establish the history of brewing in Nashville. Thanks, man.

Mertie wants to share his knowledge so much that he's giving a free informational seminar, book signing, and Q&A at the Turtle Anarchy taproom on December 6 from 7-9p. No tickets necessary. Just show up, enjoy some Turtle, and learn about the roots of this beautiful beer industry in Music City.
He'll also have his book for sale at the event, so bring cash/your checkbook to buy some as Christmas gifts.

NEW BREW ALERT:
Today (Thursday), we release a smoked porter called 1864. We're calling it 1864 to commemorate the Battle of Franklin, which happened November 30, 1864. We're donating $5 from each keg purchased to Battle of Franklin Trust, a local charity dedicated to maintaining and restoring the properties, artifacts, and documents related to the Battle of Franklin in order to preserve its history. Learn more here.

We'll also have None More Black (stout with coffee), Smoke & Mirrors (stout with cinnamon and chipotle), and Blizzard Beast (stout with wintergreen and elderberry) on tap.

Saturday 11/23 from noon-4pm, we're doing a beer tasting in Murfreesboro called Brews in the Barn, located at Sinking Creek Farm. We'll be pouring Aurumglass, Another Way To Rye, and Smoke & Mirrors. Get your $20 tickets at Broad Street Tobacco in Murfreesboro.

Just a reminder, we'll be open Wednesday 11/27 (4-10p), CLOSED THANKSGIVING DAY, open Friday 11/29 (4-10p), and open Saturday 11/30 (2-10p). Bring your growlers and treat your family to some Turtle!

Cheers!

Turtle Anarchy Updates: Brew Business

Before you start reading, these are some brews going on tap:
TONIGHT: Blizzard Beast, our Portly Stout with wintergreen and elderberry.
TOMORROW: None More Black, stout steeped with coffee beans. WAKE YO ASS UP.
SOON: 1864, a smoked porter to commemorate the Battle of Franklin, November 1864.
SOON: A smoked lager, for which we do not yet have a name.

Firstly, a huge thank you to all our patrons, old and new. We've been doing lots of running around recently doing promotional events like tap takeovers, tastings, and pint nights across the state, and it's been a lot of fun. We've been getting lots of positive feedback and it means so much to us. We're thrilled that you're thrilled, so thanks.

Secondly, we made a new addition to our brew brains! We hired a full-time brewer's assistant. His name is Dan Dutcher and he's a badass. He's bringing some great new ideas to the table (or to the tap, let's say), like using ingredients like elderberry, wintergreen, and cherry. If you had Jacked O'Lantern, our dark chocolate pumpkin stout, that was Dan's idea. Like I said, he's a badass. If you see him around, say what's up. He's the dude on the left with the tattoos (brewmaster Mike Kraft is pictured on the right):

Thirdly, we're making some changes coming up, we just wanted you to know. Soon, we're going to totally redesign our website, including a beer locator so you can find which of your favorite watering holes have Turtle. We'll also be able to make daily updates on what beers are pouring at the taproom. Thanks for being with us during this growing process; we're making lots of changes and we appreciate your continuing support.

Fourthly, we don't know if you've noticed, but we have new tap handles! Some of our accounts already have them. They look like this:

Lastly, our friends at 104-5 The Zone have been playing Turtle Anarchy promos on their station. If you listen to Midday 180, you've already heard some. They'll be playing Turtle promos for the next couple weeks or so. Don't be a party pooper, turn on your radio!

We have so much more to tell you, but this blog post is already long enough. We'll update you next week, so check back. cough BOOK SIGNING WITH LOCAL AUTHOR cough. ;)

DON'T FORGET, jazz trio Carousel Music is playing a free show at the taproom tomorrow, 6-8p. All ages.

Peace, love, and Portly Stout,
Kelsey
